Executive Board Nominations
LFLTA is now seeking nominations for the positions of Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer for the Executive Board. Nominated persons MUST be current LFLTA members. Self nominations will be accepted. All nominations should be emailed, along with a brief bio to LFLTA President, Scott Harris at [email protected] by January 5, 2016.

Vice President
Melissa Monroe - Melissa has 20 years experience in the field of world language ranging from elementary through university levels, and currently teaches middle school Spanish at Alexandria Country Day School in Alexandria, LA. She received her bachelor's degree from Northwestern State University and a Master's of Teaching Language from the University of Southern Mississippi. Melissa currently serves on the Executive Board as LFLTA Treasurer, Web Master and Social Media Coordinator. Prior to this, she served as LFLTA Region 6 Representative from 2009-2014. In addition, Melissa was chosen to represent LFLTA at ACTFL's Leadership Institute on Language Learning (LILL) at Ohio State as an Emerging Leader in 2015. In 2013, Melissa represented LFLTA as the "Best of Louisiana" presenter at the SCOLT Conference and received SCOLT's Academica Latinoamericana study abroad scholarship to Peru.
Secretary
Laura Addington - Laura is a National Board Certified Spanish teacher at Caddo Parish Magnet High School in Shreveport, with 27 years teaching experience. She has served as LFLTA Region 7 Representative for the past 2 years. She also has been the LA State Representative for the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica for 10 years. Laura serves as Athletic Director and Tennis Coach at CPMHS as well. In addition, Laura has served on several state textbook adoption committees. Laura is a polyglot, speaking 7 languages.
Treasurer
Sarah Young - Sarah is a high school French teacher at West Monroe High School with 7 years teaching experience. At West Monroe, she serves as department chair and is on the PBIS committee. Sarah has been an active member of LFLTA for many years. Currently, she serves on the Executive Board as LFLTA Secretary. Prior to this, Sarah served terms as LFLTA Regional Representative in regions 3 and 8. Sarah has received CODOFIL scholarships both as a student and then as a teacher and enjoys traveling to and learning about other cultures. In addition to her active roles at her school and with LFLTA, Sarah also works with Cub Scout Pack 11 and helps with the organization of ULM's Festival of World Languages.
